Commitment to DORA
Commitment to DORA
Horizontes Amazónicos. Journal of Social Sciences and Humanities endorses the San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA) and commits to applying its principles across all editorial and scientific evaluation processes.
Our Commitment
In line with DORA's principles, Horizontes Amazónicos adopts the following practices:
- Assessment on intrinsic merit: Articles are evaluated based on the quality, rigor, and relevance of their scientific content, not on journal impact factors or related metrics.
- Transparent evaluation: The peer review process uses explicit criteria focused on contribution to knowledge, methodological soundness, and thematic relevance.
- Broad recognition of scholarly output: We recognize the value of diverse forms of academic production, including research articles, reviews, essays, and translations, evaluating each on its own merits.
- Rejection of metric misuse: This journal does not use, nor require authors or reviewers to use, the journal impact factor or other journal-level metrics as criteria for manuscript acceptance or evaluation.
- Open Access: All our content is published under immediate open access, at no cost to authors or readers, in accordance with the principles of the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI).
